Blanes Pressure Solutions was founded in 2002 to take over the pressure business of Blanes Instruments CC, and can trace its pedigree back to 1893, when Robert Blane left Scotland to make his fortune on the Witwatersrand.

Blanes first significant involvement with the process instrumentation business came when Blane & Co Ltd was appointed to represent the Budenberg Gauge Co of Manchester England. The connection remains unbroken, although the principals are today Blanes Pressure Solutions CC and DH Budenberg Ltd.

About Blanes?

Previously part of Blanes Instruments, Blanes Pressure Solutions was formed in January 2003 as a specialist supplier of mainly pressure instrumentation to the process industries.

Over the years, Blanes has built a reputation for supplying products that provide low cost of ownership, often through careful matching of product and application.

The agreement between Blane & Co and Budenberg Gauge Co. in 1958 marked the start of the involvement of the Blanes companies in the instrumentation field. Today, DH Budenberg products are found in most significant pressure laboratories and instrument workshops in Southern Africa.

Blanes’ cooperation with Stewart-Buchanan of Scotland has resulted in the Blanes range of pressure gauges, which offers South African customers the service and flexibility associated with the smaller company, combined with the large scale resources of the large scale manufacturer. Blanes’ own range of chemical seals, designed locally to suit South African conditions, offers features not often seen, extending the utility of our full range of instruments.

Let’s talk shop?

We have a workshop where we build pressure gauges and chemical seals. We aim for modular designs which enable us to provide a great degree of flexibility, yet have the ability to execute special designs when required.

We hold primary pressure standards from 1,5 kPa pressure/vacuum right up to 60 MPa, as well as electrical standards, and these are regularly certified by SANAS accredited laboratories.

Our chemical seal range was specifically designed for South African conditions, and our use of investment castings makes it possible to provide wetted parts in exotic alloys at extremely competitive prices.

Our product range encompasses just about every type of pressure instrument, through relationships with some of the world’s foremost manufacturers. Under the US Gauge logo we supply small diameter low cost and OEM gauges. Pressure gauges are also sourced from Stewart Buchanan Ltd of Scotland, one of Europe’s fastest growing manufacturers, which enables us to provide a complete range of pressure gauges. Digital pressure gauges come from Martel in California, and DP gauges from Orange Research in New England.

Pressure switches are sourced from Delta Controls Ltd of England, considered the best available from a performance point of view. Pressure transmitters come from Sailsors, a low cost producer with an interesting range, and Impress, a British manufacturer with strong German links. Pressure calibrators come from Martel Budenberg, Meriam and Fluke, and temperature calibrators from Fluke and Leyro Instruments in Spain.

Accessories include valves and manifolds from Stewart-Buchanan.
